chance the rapper- juice

Music videos follows certain conventions like in this son juice there are a lot of different type of shot types like close up, wide shot and extreme close up, in the video chance is wearing casual cool clothes as he is a rapper so he should look quite cool. It is set on a busy road/street, he is always moving about it is quite a fast pace video.

peer/self evaluation

I got my peers to fill out some information sheets to tell me how my logos look. After each evaluation I  found that they liked the red colour that it makes the VIP logo look expensive and high class i also have been given good feedback to change the colour of the post to silver or gold or and also the outer rectangle to black and white i think this would make the red carpet and red colour stand out. My peers also said the broken guitar looks effective and the colours are good. I should think about rotating the shreds to be upside down or jumbled the colour of the word shred are bold and it makes it stand out. With the buzz logo the yellow stands out among the black, white and red. I need to make sure the squares are the same proportion to each other maybe change buzz to red and remove the red background and change the black square to white, to help to enhance the outline.

buzz evaluation of logos

I think that this buzz logo represents the pop music. The type of music you would hear is music you would play loud in your room to either chill or sing along to. I though of this because pop music is is what most people listen to and is meant for people to sing along and get creative with.

My target audience is 12-35 for this target audience they must have to like music from artist like Rhianna and one direction etc.I think the target audience we aim for must like music they can get up and dance to, this is what our radio station is trying to achieve.

Who did you think the audience is and why? How did you aim to appeal to that audience? I tried to make the logo look as similar to what the radio stations were called for example the radio station shred I tried to make look like a shredded guitar this would also show that this is some type of rock music. I think that the smashed up guitar is appealing because it shows that the music is going to be loud and out of control appealing to what the target audience to what the audience what from heavy metal/ rock type music. I also thought my bold colour and kind of messy font would also appeal to my target audience.

I think the type of stations that would compete with buzz is kiss and capital because they play similar types of music and they try to attract the same target audience as our radio station so this means that buzz radio station needs to start think expanding our target audience as we cant be in a big  competition with other radio stations.

I wanted to create a look that appealed to my target audience and showed that the logo matches the name of the radio station and also relates to the music being played. I used a big type of bubble writing and I also created a bee this helped it relate to the name of the radio station and genre. I think our red and white background catches the eyes of the target audience as they aren’t very strong colours this enticed the audience to look at the logo.

I was trying to make our logo image link in with the name of the station. I though as it was pop music so I tried to create something linked with the name and genre of the audience. I got bubble writing from dafont and then I used the word pallet, I then coloured the letters in with the paint bucket, I also got a picture of a bee and used the pen tool and went around to make a shape then I added colour using the paint bucket tool I did this because it fitted in very well with the genre of music we play. I added the red and white background colour by using the pain bucket tool but I had to make a new layer first, this made my logo look more professional and look more like pop.

I think the most successful part of our logo was creating the bee and adding colour to it because I think that added a type cheesiness which is what our radio station is trying to make the audience perceive.
when i asked the audience for feedback they recognized that it would be pop music straight away, well most of the audience. They said this because of the kind of cheesiness of my logo how there was an actual bee created, also they said the big bold letters stood out and attracted there attentions.

The skill i have developed and used the most has to be the pen tool as that is how i created most of my logos as it easy just to take shapes out from images and then use that to create custom shapes and use that to help make my logo.

My logo doesn't compare to any other logos as it is original and it looks different to any other logos that have been created it has originality, thought and creativity but if i had to compare it to any logo i would say capital Xtra because that logo is also quite original.

shred evaluation of logos

  1.  I think that this shred logo represents the heavy metal/ rock music. this music you would hear at places like concerts on a Saturday night. I think of things like concerts because rock music is selective and liked by a certain amount of people and shred sounds similar like shredding a guitar what rock stars do.this type of music is aimed for people over 15 as people who are younger might find this music quite rebellious.
  2.  my target audience is 15-30 for these people they must really like hard core music. they like music they can get crazy to and jump in the air and lose some steam on.
  4.  I think the type of station that would compete with shred would be Planet Rock radio. This station is the only station that plays similar hard-core rock type music to what our radio plays. I think planet rock station would targets the same type of audience and for us to be more popular I think we would have to target a more wider age range.
  5.  I wanted to create an edgy and original look that appealed to my target audience and which also relates to the radio station and the music which is played. I used edgy type of writing as I thought it related to the image of our logo and for it to also show we play rock music. I think our red and white background catches the eyes of the target audience as they aren’t very strong colours this makes sure the audience focus on the main image. I think this makes sure the target audience are interested in finding out what the radio station is about.
  6. I was trying to make our logo image link in with the name of the station. I though as it was rock music something wouldn’t definitely get smashed up so I tried to make an image of a broken guitar. I did this because I though it fitted in very well with the genre of music we play. I used the pen tool to go around the image of a normal guitar and after I done this, I then imputed certain pictures I broken up from custom shapes and I added colour using the paint bucket tool. I got my edgy type of text from dafont and I imputed it on to my logo using the word pallet. I added the red background colour by using the pain bucket tool but I had to make a new layer first, this made my logo look more professional and more rock type.
  7. I think the most successful part of our logo was using the pen tool to segregate parts of the guitar as it went smoothly. This helped us to make our logo more original and helped to link the logo to the genre.
  8.  When the audience was asked to give feedback about the logo and they were able to tell me it was between rock/heavy metal and they told me the logo of a broken told me it really links with the logos name and it is really easy to show the genre.
  9.  While developing the shred logo I was able to design my logo based on what my target audience would like to see and also the age range. It was one of the easiest as I know what shed meant and how to make it come across to the target audience and how i wanted them to feel after they saw it.
  10. To make this piece much better I could add to the logo as it is light on creativity asthere is only a picture of a broken guitar and the logos name above the picture i could add more designs and even more colour to make it better and also look more professional.

VIP Evaluation of Logos

V.I.P
1.     I think that the VIP logo represents the Hip Hop genre. The radio would be trying to play music that young people like for example drake, Miley Cyrus, Chris brown and many more. As VIP means very important person this made me automatically think about Hip hop stars as they live a very luxurious lifestyle this is because of the type of music these artist produce, they also wear expensive things such as the clothing they wear also the accessory’s such as watches and chains this tells me they have a good status which relates to VIP.

2.     The target audience is young 12-26 year olds this is because the genre of Hip hop can have lyrics which can be considered as inappropriate and can involve subjects that are bad like violence and drugs which more adult figures might not want to listen to but this is what most young people like to listen to people. Also I think that the genre of music is mainly listened to by 12-26 year olds. My design colours of red and white are basic and easy for young people to like.

3.     I wanted my target audience to notice the logo. The red and white and can appeal to young audience because they most artists where those colours. Most artist wear white because it stands out and they also wear accessories like watches and everything. The font is bold and stylish what young audiences like to see.

4.     I think that the competitors for VIP will be capital Xtra and heart. This is because both stations play similar music which means they are targeting the same target audiences and playing the same music. However VIP will focus on artists that are well known and play only Hip Hop all the time so the audience know what music VIP play unlike other radios like heart which change their genre of music quite a bit.

5.     with my design I wanted to create a red carpet and I would import a picture and then I would use the pen tool and I would go over the picture and then I would and some colour. With the VIP logo I wanted to show the lifestyle these artist have and the perks of their jobs as everyone wants to be a celebrity especially the young people which is who this radio station is targeting.

6.     When creating this logo I first imported a picture and zoomed into so I could use the pen tool to outline the image. I looked at different fonts to use and I had to use a stylish yet modern text due to the target audience and I found this using dafont the website so my writing was able to be modern and stylish at the same time.

7.      With my logo, I am happy with the design of my logo. I think the red carpet idea is not original but the way I designed it made it clever. I like the way I created carpet and poles free hand, this represents an important person and shows the true meaning of the word VIP.

8.    When the audience was asked feedback about the logo and they were able to tell me it was between pop/ hip hop and they helped me to realise what else I can use to help me with to make it appeal more to my target audience.

9.     While developing the VIP logo I was able to design my logo based on what my target audience would like to see. It was one of the easiest as I know what VIP meant and how to make it come across to the target audience.

10. To make this piece much better I could use a different photo that would relate even more to the genre and I could make it clearer using the underwater tool and the outer glow tool by making the picture a bit brighter and that VIP logo more appealing to the target audience.
