the designs features of a TV ident


The design features of a TV ident:



In these mind maps me and my partner kenny decided to give the idents we were drafting up an upbeat and energetic personality. We did this by having a lot of the actions in our ident by having fast moving images (eg the record player ident) we decided to aim for a younger audience around the ages of 16 and older ages. We did this because a lot of the decisions we made for this idents would attract a younger audience. Such as: colourful images, upbeat music, energetic pace etc. Not only that but a lot of the choices we did make would perfectly suit the ident well in terms of the first ideas we came up with during planning.Also we decided to aim for the same target audience when we created the mind map when the person was being sick because we didnt think a younger audience would be able to cope with that much sickness.

Record player ident:


Sound: Record player being turned on, a voice over narration,


Music:  Either Rock or pop music. These choices would be suitable for the ident to make the clip upbeat and energetic for a younger target audience. 
Song choices: Rock: Pilot error,  Flashing lights instrumental (under pop genre),

Micro Phone Ident:
Music: Rock, Heavy metal music. This music would choice would be suitable for this ident to show that the channel is lively and active for a younger audience (teenagers and older).
Song Choices: Feelin good, Pump
Sound: Microphone feed back from microphone being plugged into an amp.


Sick person Ident:
Sound: Fake sick (it would be made of wool) splashing onto the floor.
Music: Disgusting type music to fit with the actions happening on screen.

Role descriptions:

In the microphone and record player idents I will be taking the role of directing the ident while Gary will be assisting me. I will be taking this role since I was the person in our pair that came up with these ideas for these two idents. I will be filming and help with editing the ident. We’ll both edit the footage in order to improve our editing skills and to get more use to the software’s we will be using.



In the sick person ident Gary will be the person directing while I will be assisting this time. Gary would be directing this ident since he was the person who thought up the idea of the ident, so he would have a good understanding of what would be filmed.  I will take the position of filming and editing the ident so I will be able to improve upon those certain skills.

logo designs


 

I opened a custom background which is transparent and of 20 to 27cm size i went down the left hand side and chose the rectangle tool box and created a red box.
 I made another box using the rectangle tool to create a square box inside the other box.
I then changed the square to white to make the writing inside more bold and stand out .










I created another all black square box just underneath the one before and just smaller than the top one by using the rectangle tool box.
I did the same thing here I created a smaller box inside using the rectangle tool box.
I then got the paint bucket and filled the bigger square with red paint.
I left these two blanks for when I am going to add the text and different designs to it.

I filled the small square with the paint bucket and turned it also to white.









For my first logo I saved an image and i pasted it on to the front of my first logo which was VIP then I'm going to use the text tool and write VIP around it.
I created a black square by using the rectangle tool box.
I then filled the square red using the paint bucket.
I created an even smaller square inside the bigger square using the square tool.
I then filled the smaller square with white paint using the paint bucket.
 I had to keep changing the red colour until it matched with the other small squared box sing the paint bucket.

I added an image right in the middle and the writing is going to go around it.
I added another picture to symbolise the logo word I was using and now the writing is going to go around it.









I used the pen tool and I outlined the guitar and I also used the paint bucket to make it more realistic.
used the pen tool and copied the red carpet and i turned it red  and i added the text.














I would save my logo in a PDF metafile. A PDF file is made up of pixels and data that includes mathematical equations and shapes these are used to produce an image. PDF files can be opened in any system, this means OW! Music can access their files from their business offices and also on casual devises at home on anything like laptops and iPhone. A PDF file cannot be used once it has been saved because it is only be accessed if you want to read it.
I would use this file format for each one of my logos as all my logos use megapixels and I think that it would be the right file format to use as it works well with all of my logos and it also makes all of my logos easy to access.
My logos all fit in with each other because I used colour to make them have a link and I think the colour make the logos look better and kind of the same and I can change the design as well because the colour links.

They are also family logos because they do not have any rude imaging this makes it family friendly as the logos are viewable which means our images are suitable for all ages which means more people would look at it which means the company are getting more views off people as the logo can be seen by anyone.

the location description


Where will you shoot?

This applies for all our filming.
Me and Kenny will be shooting the microphone and the title the grid  in doors as  it will look better inside a building all the musical items inside and the logo will be more visible inside a building rather than outside.

The person that is going to be sick will be done outside where there is more space for him to vomit out musical things

What does it look like?

Inside the media room it has artificial light, desk, computer and chairs  but the table will be moved apart so we can have space in the middle for the instruments and other equipment that we might use

When we are doing the part when the person is sicking out musical items and the logo, it will be outside on concrete in the middle of the playground so that there is enough space so the audience can see what is going on.

Any health issues?

Make sure all bags and chairs are tucked in, also make sure all tables are moved to one side. We also make sure that there is a first aid kit present at all times when filming.

when we are outside we make sure the playground is free that no-one is on is using it so that no-one gets hurt or in the way of what we are doing,.

Successful and Unsuccessful Idents


 Idents are small advertisements that market a channel. They have both opportunities and limitations. Some opportunities Idents have are; it easily displays text based information and it allows you to brand your channel, brand loyalty and creates a corporate identity.

Some limitations that must be thought of when designing Idents are getting the right amount and balance of typography in the Ident. Also you need to make sure the resolution is right for what displays you want your Ident shown of for example a TVs resolutions wont be the same as computers. Another limitation is that you have to make sure you use colours that will attract the eyes of the viewers and your target audience. The aspect ratio has to be correct so the full picture fits in the screen.

Some channels have been more successful at taking advantage of these opportuntiesthan others.

Gold TV

Current:
There is a very well balanced visual and verbal information in this ident as it shows the programmes shows images which attract older viewers to that channel because it attracts people with the type of pictures it shows during the ident also the logo comes right to the middle of the screen so the viewers know what channel the ident is trying to advertise The composition well balanced as well with the visuals that are portrayed because it tells you what the ident is all about the music in the background helps the viewers know that the channel is fun, the tempo of the ident is quite medium paced the ident is good because it relates to many different things to do with real life the interaction with the audience it good because the announcer addresses the viewers like he is speaking to them in a casual conversation. This gives us an idea of what the ident is like because it shows us adult images in the ident which shows us who the channel is meant for and who there target audience.  There are lots of comedic things happening in the ident which clearly communicates that Gold is a comedy channel.

OLD:
This ident has no verbal information in fact it has no sought of communication what so ever it doesn’t tell the viewers anything about what is going on in the ident there is nothing that relates it to the target audience it is slow paced and only shows us washing up we don't see the logo until the very end, there is no-one like the announcer to tell us what is coming on next I think over all the ident is just very poor, this ident tells us nothing about what the channel is about as the ident is not very clear. The main problem with the ident is that the type of programming shown on Gold isn't clear like it is in their current one.


CBBC
Current:
There is well balanced the visual information with the logo on display, also well balanced verbal information as they tell you what’s next on the CBBC, the logo moves around the screen really fast to show kids that the channel is fun and exciting to attract the young viewers the verbal communication is very poor as the only thing is said is CBBC in a loud jokey manner. I think this a smart way of going about doing an ident for children as they don't want to hear a lot of information they would rather see something extravagant happening the tempo is very fast and upbeat what kids like so i think this is a successful ident. Overall it is clear who the target audience is because of these things. It is also clear that the channel shows children's programming.


 

Old:
There is no verbal information in this ident we just see the CBBC logo bouncing around a programme they call Shaun the sheep  and all they say is CBBC this is a bad ident because it doesn't tell us what the next show is going to be, the ident is moving to fast for us to see what the ident is doing it is trying to advertise an unpopular programme by putting it in the ident there a fast beat in the background which makes the logo move around in that speed, The ident is very poor as it doesn't show the audience enough of what the channel is about and what age group the channel is meant for. Overall it isn't as successful as the current ident because it isn't as successful at communincating the programming type or target audience.



Dave

Old:

These idents are low in information with no verbal information but there is a little bit of visual information with the logo and slogan that is shown. The composition isn't balanced well it only shows visuals information no verbal info. The tempo for the ident is slow and quite boring to the audience . This doesn't interest the audience and they have set this in a naturalistic place which could really bore the viewers and cause them to change the channel as there is nothing interesting to look at . The ident has been made to be more entertaining based than information based and it didn't work either way as it was boring and the audience didn't get to know any information. It doesn't really tell us anything about the channel and the ident does not tell us what the channel will be showing or anything. Dave is meant to be like a fun channel for men but that doesn't really come across in this ident.


New:

This ident is very well balanced with the visual information is good as we see the logo and verbally its good because the audience get to hear what's coming on next which means their is good verbal information to. The composition is very well balanced as well with the visuals being good as it is something the target audience can relate as it is set in a fictional place to also the music and sound's used are to get the audience interested about the programme that is about to come home.  Tempo is fast and upbeat so the viewers remain interested. I would say this ident is more entertainment based rather than information this reaches out to there target audience. This is a good ident as it shows us everything we need for a good ident, it shows the audience it is targeting and the sound music makes the ident interesting and we can tell who the ident is targeting. It is really funny and engaing whoch makes the channel seem that way too. This current one is much better at communicating the personality of Dave than the old one.
