Reports Correction
I have done quite a lot of work researching
information for music videos, so I’m now researching information for Rizzle Kicks
new video, I’m writing a brief article explaining my job and what I get up to
on a daily basis as a media researcher. I have always wanted to do research on
music videos I do this to make sure that the videos that are being made get as
many views as possible, to this I conducted audience research, market research
and also production research to get information and ideas to keep appealing to
our target audience.
We need to have audience research so we can
determine the age range of the audience that we are trying to appeal to that
will watch Rizzle Kicks video as well as their interest and gender. It is
important we do this kind of research as the information that will be collected
will help us to improve the music video this would help us to target the video
viewers and increase revenue and awareness of the band. It is good to have an
audiences view as the music video is made for them and then we can know what
they want in it.
I carried out some primary research and I asked people around the age of 13-26 to ask questions to help me fill out my survey this will be done in areas like Wimbledon, Sutton, Morden and also London where I asked a lot of different people, I done it in those areas because I done some secondary research and found out that those are the areas that watch a lot of pop videos online through the internet, I had prepared questions to ask the audience for example, how old are they? Do they like rizzle kicks? And also what do you expect to see in a rizzle kick video? This was helpful because it kept us updated. Once the information was gathered we done a geodemograhic analysis comparing the similarities between the areas we targeted. We targeted places in London as rizzle kicks are from London and are a London band so this means this is where were most likely to find our audience who will view the video, all of our primary and qualitative research helped us to gather information on making the music video the best it could be. The primary research I took was a focus group which help to gather important information.

For the Rizzle Kicks video to be as
profitable as possible market research needs to be carried out. This involves gathering
information about some of Rizzle Kicks other music videos and what the thoughts
on those products were. Market research is research into the current market,
existing products and advertising effects. To gather this information I used
primary research and planned a questionnaire for the people I was interviewing
for them to complete. The participants were from an age of 13-18 because after
doing a vox plot we found out those are the ages that listen to Rizzle Kicks
the most. We invited four boys and four girls who were all still in full time
education so with this music video were targeting teens and young adults, also
who spend a lot of money on music. Choosing a certain type of person or group
is important because if people around 36-70 years of age came it would be
pointless because stats show that people this age will not go and watch Rizzle
kicks music video. The primary research that was conducted helped us to compare
some other music in the same market like other English groups for example Bastille
and one direction and other English groups. I asked questions like how would
you compare rizzle kicks video to other British artist? It is important that I
asked the same question to everyone so I can compare answers. I carried out
competitor analysis research because those other British acts are targeting the
same type of audience which makes them competition. I was able to discover the
amount of viewings for other British acts using secondary research, by doing
this I was able to plan where I wanted to broadcast the video on which was the
radio as people would hear about the song and then go on to watch it so I put
it on capital xtra as it is a niche market because it’s for young people which
is who the music video is for. In 2013 Rizzle Kicks down with the trumpets I
recorded 15,025,357 and in bastille popeii recorded 75,608,839 views so YouTube
helps us keep tabs on our competitors and also helped us improve Rizzle Kicks
current video this is secondary research as I got stats from years back to find
out the views on old music videos.
Production research is research to help with
the production of media texts such as finance, location etc. I carried out production
research a lot with my team to make sure so that the contents of the music
video were very recent an up to date. We searched companies that would help us
to film the video we checked all over the internet and once we had found and
chosen the right company we discussed marketing and advertising ideas to help
the music video gain as much views as possible. I also had to make sure in the
process of this video being done there was no plagiarism enduring to the rules
of copyright. Personnel research is recruiting someone for a certain job for
example I would do this research when finding back up dancers and extras for
the video and I also did personal research when I wanted to know how good the
music video was.
As a media researcher for music video I researched locations such as big studios in London local areas and places where we could film our dancers and also the artist in different scenes of the music video also some places for the artist to stay close by and the dancers. Budgeting for the record label requires all information gathered, which is why when I was summing up the budget I had to consider advertisement cost, the cost of the studio, booking the dancers, the different clothing the dancers and artist will wear in the video and also a lot of other things. An example of this was the advertisement cost by doing the primary research I was able to realise what age group I would be aiming the music video at and how much roughly it would cost to advertise it to that target audience. Before I could do all of that though I had to compare all the ways I could advertise to that type of target audience and I had to compare the prices and what were the best deals which was advertising the song on radios and TV channels for them to advertise it for 3 weeks came up to a total of £2,673.

To sum up the job of the media researcher is
important for the company to be prosperous as I believe researching and knowing
what your type of audience want to watch and finding out helps us to gather
more views which is successful.

Findings From Experimental Studies
From reading this article on findings from experimental studies I've found out :
The arousal of emotions persuade viewers in a way that is different from that if arguing.
Emotion does not raise viewer’s attention, but it does draw them in and distracts them from the advertisers intention to persuade.
Viewers could get so involved in the emotions from watching the advert that they may miss the central message.
Humour is mostly not allowed as it will cause complaints from other companies.
Resonance is a form of humour that occurs more often in advertising than in literature.
Humour must be painless
To stimulate emotions, communicators use pictures, characters, sequences of events, humour and music.
Emotion-arousing stimuli such as pictures and music are easier to recall than is factual evidence.
Characters are most engaging if they are similar to those the audience experiences.

The Psychology of Advertising
I have learned a lot by reading the article about the psychology of advertising:
When filming an advert in order for it to be affective you must amke sure you appeal to three emotions, love, fear and rage.
People dont buy the toothpaste that has been advertised not for the dental reasons or personal hygiene reasons but for the sex appeal knowing that they are going to look better with bright white teeth.
Also you need to use effective commands such as 'Use such and such beauty product' and also ask consumers to complete a coupon and mail it into the company.
Harry Hollingsworth believed that when your creating an adveert you need to:
1. Attract a consumer’s attention
2. Focus the attention onto the message
3. Make the consumers remember the message
4. Cause the consumer to take the desired action
Creating Online Ads We Want to
Watch
What I have learned from reading this article about creating
online adverts we want to watch:
when an advert reaches a viewers screen it doesn't mean they are going to watch it till the end or watch it at all actually watching it. Adverts can now be skipped or you can just change the channel or on the internet you can just open a new browser and do something else until the advert is finished.
The key to grabbing the attention of the viewers is to use key things to attract them to keep watching like surprise and joy. When watching
ads, there are 2 types of basic eye movement: one is fixation, and the other is
where the eye is moving from one potion to the next.
People attention pattern is different depending on there
emotion they are feeling. The more the viewers pay attention the viewers are less likely
they to skip the advert. Capturing the audience’s attention is what get the advert viewed by the audience.
