The five social message campaigns that I looked at were pretty similar in a way because they all used more or less the same techniques as all the social message campaigns tried to make us feel compassion as they are trying to get a serious message across to there audience. They all used affectionate language in there adverts and wanted to play on us the audience feelings towards the advert they also trying to make them feel compassion also. Most of these adverts were made in a way so the viewer could relate too the events which are going . For example, in the driving safely advert it showed a girl and boy texting each other from across the road and whilst he was texting her he was crossing the road so he didn't see the car coming and it hit him.. I realised that all of the social message adverts show realistic situations. This is a good technique to use because the viewers will be able to relate to the environment (school, in a car), and will make the advert even more hard-hitting. more engaged as it could happen to them or children because the advert is so realistic they know it might happen to them, These campaigns didn't focus on just a specific target audience, there were different adverts that would appeal to different age groups. For example, the advert where the kids are singing about bullying. In the driving safely ad it aims at like 17-18 year old's because that is when you start driving. This information I found was helpful and reliable as I researched into different campaigns and their adverts to see if they are all a bit similar. The research i did allowed me to know what is needed to make a successful and effective social message campaign.
By doing this research i found out that i should base by advert on compassion and affection within my own social message campaign because will make the audience more aware and sympathetic towards the people in the advert. I think that the campaign should be a stand alone because the viewers' attention will be focused on the campaign. As I researched different campaigns from all over the world and I found an animated advert too, by researching social message campaigns from the same country you know that the social message campaign adverts are all very similar. so if you have you have one from different countries or if they're animated, then you will most definitely have a wide range of techniques.
Throughout the research I conducted I have seen a lot of different techniques used that will help me with mine. The websites I have been looking at show that it would have a big impact on a younger audience. For me to create something good aiming it at teenagers, I think I need to include pictures, some colours, information that is easy to read. If I include these then It should appeal to a teenager because it wouldn't make them have to read a lot of information. It would be more interesting for them more because they are learning as well as looking at stuff they enjoy at the same time. By putting all of this into my advert i will be able to target teens as well as my other age groups.
MTV charge £150 per shot for a 30 second advert and this costs £4,500 if there were 30 shots within the advert to place my advert on this channel but the average number of viewers for the week was only 163,600 this was for a younger audience.
It costs £2000- £1 million to place an advert on one of the ITV channels but this price would depend on how much I wanted the audience to see. The average number of viewers for this channel was 618,400 which was the second highest of the week and this was also for a younger audience.
E4 charges £8,500 per shot for a 30 second advert and this would total £255,000 if there were 30 shots in the advert. The number of viewers for this channel in the week ending the 14th was 921,500. this makes e4 the best channel to use.
After examining these channels closely i was able to come to a conclusion that E4 was the best channel to use as it is cheaper and also this channel aims to targeting my type of target audience which is good as it means my advert will be seen by the age group that i want to be targeting.
